By Guido Di MaioThe Italian Football Federation is keen to keep the eye on the player who is expected to make his Serie A debut next weekend.
The Serie A outfit confirmed the news of former Chelsea and Fiorentina defender Gianluca Manfredini’s transfer to Sassuolo on Tuesday, but there is still plenty of time before he is able to make an impact in Italy.
The 26-year-old has made six appearances for the Serie A side, making one start, and has already been capped by the U-20s in two matches.
He has made a total of 13 appearances in the competition, and with Sassuol set to host Juventus on Sunday, Manfredinis absence could be a blow to the club’s hopes of returning to the top of the Serie D table.
Sassuolo have also made it clear that they will not sell Manfredisi to any other club, and that he will stay at the San Siro until the end of the season.
