By POLITICO StaffMAGAZINE — A new report claims Amazon is buying Motorola and Apple for a combined $6.6 billion.
The report was published Tuesday in The Wall Street Journal.
The Wall is quoting sources as saying Amazon will make the purchases in the second quarter.
Motorola will be the largest single acquirer of a Motorola and a Apple company.
In a statement to the Wall, a Motorola spokesman said, “We are delighted to be partnering with Amazon.
This is a great opportunity for Motorola to grow in the mobile industry and build on our growing success in the tablet space.”
The Wall says that the deals could take Motorola through 2018, which is the same year the iPhone 5S is expected to hit shelves.
